Former Pulitzer Prize Winner, Big Four Investigations Leader James Mulvaney Joins Mesirow Financial Consulting, LLC
Firm Continues to Enhance Investigative Services Business

NEW YORK, March 11, 2008 — Mesirow Financial today announced that James Mulvaney has joined its Consulting division as a managing director. Based in New York, Mulvaney will play a key role in the growth of the group's Litigation and Investigative Services business.

A former Pulitzer Prize winner for Investigative Reporting, Mulvaney has emerged as a leading figure in private sector investigations, intelligence and crisis management services on the back of such work for most recently his own firm and before that KPMG LLP. He brings over 30 years multi-national experience in gathering and analyzing information and conducting investigations in a number of industries and disciplines.

"Jim's experience spans a variety of roles, all of which are deeply rooted in the ability to discover, analyze and effectively communicate findings," said Ralph Tuliano, president of Mesirow Financial Consulting, LLC (MFC). He added, "His keen investigative acumen will be of tremendous benefit to clients."

Mulvaney stated, "Joining Mesirow Financial Consulting's growing team is a natural progression for my extensive investigative career. I am excited to contribute to the firm's commitment to providing highly focused, skilled and objective services for clients." He continued, "As both a competitor and at times partner to MFC's Investigations Business, I have been actively observing the growth and success of this unit. I am pleased to join this group and recognize the benefits of working within a growing consultancy with multiple client touch points that balances the resources of a larger firm with the entrepreneurial zeal and personalization of a boutique.

Prior to joining the firm, Mulvaney founded Tactical Intelligence Services, Inc. to provide clients with a point of contact and personal commitment for investigative, security and crisis services around the world. Clients included law firms, major corporations, high net-worth individuals as well as government agencies and U.S. Federal Bankruptcy Courts. The firm's other offices were based in Asia and Europe and specialized in due diligence and asset identification/recovery. Prior to leading his own firm, Mulvaney also spent several years as director of Corporate Intelligence for the investigative arm of KPMG LLP. In that role, he was charged with gathering intelligence, evidence and other specialized information to assist Fortune 100 companies in making critical business decisions. He also designed and executed the first "competitive intelligence" system for the board of directors of KPMG, a system to provide constant public data and private analysis around the world. Mulvaney began his career as a journalist, winning the Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting.

Mulvaney received a bachelor's degree from the University of New England and later did graduate work at St. Johns University. He is currently a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post, with a focus on issues involving terrorism and security and to the U.S. State Department Visitors Service Bureau, providing intelligence and methodology briefings for high-ranking intelligence and law enforcement officials of allied governments. He has also hosted seminars for the U.S. State Department related to combating narcotics, corruption and terror groups. Mulvaney is active with several charitable organizations, including the Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America.
