Susan J. Schmidt has been promoted to head of U.S. Value Equity Management

CHICAGO, April 18, 2011 – Mesirow Financial is pleased to announce that Susan J. Schmidt has been promoted to managing director and head of its U.S. Value Equity Management group, reporting to chairman and CEO Richard S. Price.

Schmidt joined Mesirow Financial in 2009 as portfolio manager for the mid cap and smid cap value strategies and within a few months became a portfolio manager for the small and micro cap value strategies as well.

"Susan has brought tremendous value to the group and the firm. She has been leading the U.S. Value Equity group in a non-official way for some time now," said Price. "This promotion not only recognizes Susan for her significant contributions, but also acknowledges the role she has already assumed."

Schmidt has more than 20 years of experience in the equity investment management industry. Before joining Mesirow Financial, she was as an equity analyst at Essex Investment Management Company. Previously, she served as a senior equity analyst at Magnetar Capital. Schmidt earned a masters of management degree from The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Smith College and a received a general course diploma from the London School of Economics. She is a member of the CFA Institute.
