Bill Hornell is a managing director in Mesirow Financial’s Investment Banking Group. He is responsible for developing key relationships, leading deal teams throughout the transaction process and providing advisory services on middle market M&A assignments within the paper, plastics and packaging sectors.
Bill has more than 30 years of investment banking experience and is a well-known and highly regarded professional in the industry. He has been involved in over 100 M&A transactions in the corrugated packaging, flexible packaging, folding carton, label and rigid packaging sectors. He has completed transactions with leading paper, plastics and packaging companies including International Paper, Georgia-Pacific, Amcor, Packaging Corporation of America, Autajon, WestRock, Menasha, Hood Container, ProAmpac and Resource Label Group, among others. Prior to joining Mesirow Financial in 1988, Bill was a vice president in the Corporate Finance department at Stifel, Nicolaus & Company.
Bill has been featured in industry-leading publications such as Board Converting News, Flexible Packaging Magazine and Packaging Digest, and has been a guest speaker at numerous conferences and events including Paperboard Packaging Council’s Annual Meeting, International In-Mold Labeling Conference and various events hosted by the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters.
Bill earned a BS from Indiana University and an MBA from Harvard University. He holds a FINRA Series 79 license.
